Expanded Metal Mesh: The Pioneer in Salt Corrosion Resistance for Moroccan Salt Mine Operations

2026-04-16

The high-purity sodium chloride (98%) at the Mohammedia salt mine is extremely corrosive to equipment. The expanded metal mesh is made from duplex stainless steel (2205), which has a pinhole corrosion potential 200 mV higher than that of 304 stainless steel in a salt spray environment, enabling it to withstand long-term immersion in salt brine. The perforated mesh panels (6 mm thick) are produced using laser cutting technology, ensuring burr-free edges that prevent salt crystals from accumulating in the gaps. Maintenance requires only a rinse with clean water to restore permeability, resulting in a 50% improvement in maintenance efficiency compared to traditional welded screen panels.
