Energy storage plant safety and security: the key role of fire-resistant hexagonal grids

The Italian energy storage industry is booming, and the risk of thermal runaway of batteries is of great concern. Fire-resistant hexagonal mesh serves as a thermal insulating skeleton for the battery compartment and, in synergy with fireproofing materials, slows down the spread of fire. Its high-temperature and impact resistance protects peripheral equipment in the event of a battery explosion. In the Milan energy storage demonstration project, the fire-resistant hexagonal mesh was so effective that it will become a standard feature for the safety and protection of Italian energy storage plants in the future.
