Metal Expanded Mesh: An Explosion-Proof Ventilation Solution for Coal Mine Gas Zones in Nigeria

The Enugu coal mine faces a high risk of gas outbursts. Metal expanded mesh addresses this challenge through its dual ‘ventilation and explosion-proof’ properties: the mesh ensures an 85% airflow rate, whilst the stainless steel construction provides electrostatic shielding to prevent static electricity generated by friction. When integrated with gas sensors, the system issued three early warnings of abnormal concentrations 24 hours in advance at the Onitsha coal mine, reducing production downtime losses by 5 million naira. The system has been certified by the Nigerian Bureau of Mine Safety.
