Metal Expanded Mesh: Corrosion-Resistant Filtration Solution for Acidic Wastewater from Nigerian Copper Mines
2026-04-30
Nigerian copper mine wastewater with a pH of 2-4 employs metal expanded mesh made of Hastelloy® alloy as a primary filtration system. This intercepts suspended mineral slurry particles and, when integrated with neutralization processes, achieves an 80% copper ion recovery rate. At the Zangfala Copper Mine, this solution reduced neutralizing agent consumption by 35%, ensured wastewater discharge compliance with Nigerian Federal Environmental Protection Agency (FEPA) standards, and recovered over 500 tons of copper resources annually.
