Stretched Metal Mesh: A Safety Barrier for Moroccan Mines

The steep slopes of Moroccan mines require protection against the hazards of falling rocks. The stretched metal mesh is woven from Φ4.0mm galvanised steel wire, with a mesh size of 50mm × 50mm and a tensile strength of ≥1500 N/m. It is capable of intercepting falling rocks weighing up to 200kg, meeting the TUV-certified Class I standard for protection. Its flexible structure absorbs impact energy, reducing secondary damage to the slope. In applications at mines in the Atlas Mountains, the incidence of rockfall accidents has been reduced by 80%. When combined with an intelligent monitoring system, it enables 24-hour real-time early warning.
