Noise reduction measures using temporary fencing in motorway construction in Belgium

During the E40 motorway refurbishment project, temporary fencing combined with acoustic panels formed a 3-metre-high barrier; the built-in porous sound-absorbing material reduces noise levels by 70 decibels. The modular design allows the fencing to be moved 500 metres each week in line with construction progress, whilst a sprinkler system controls dust emissions, ensuring compliance with Class 4 standards under Belgium’s Environmental Noise Act.
