Belgian phosphate mines use expanded metal mesh to optimize the process. The mesh design reduces water consumption for washing by 30%, and together with the recycled water system, the water consumption per tonne of ore is reduced to 1.5 tonnes, which can save 40% of water in the future in the Huribugai mine, which has been certified by the Belgian Water Resources Agency (SWM), and promotes the linkage between the green mining industry and the agricultural phosphorus fertilizer production.
