Stretched Metal Mesh: An Explosion-Proof Ventilation Solution for Methane-Prone Areas in Mexican Coal Mines
2026-06-18
Coahuila State’s coal mines in Mexico face methane hazards; stretched metal mesh addresses these challenges through its ‘ventilation + explosion-proof’ properties: the mesh structure ensures an 85 per cent airflow rate, enabling rapid methane discharge; the stainless steel material offers strong electrostatic shielding, preventing static electricity generated by friction. Integrated with smart methane sensors, this system has established an early-warning system at the Pachuca Coal Mine, detecting three instances of abnormal methane concentrations 48 hours in advance and reducing production downtime losses by over 2 million pesos.
