Expanded Metal Mesh: Efficient Filtration for the Further Processing of Manganese Ore in Morocco
2026-04-24
The electrolytic processing at the Ouarzazate manganese mine requires the filtration of acidic solutions containing manganese ions (pH 2–4). The expanded metal mesh is woven from tantalum wire (wire diameter 0.1 mm) and exhibits a corrosion rate of ≤0.001 mm/year in aqua regia, enabling it to withstand the highly corrosive manganese electrolyte over the long term. Its diagonal-stretch structure (40% porosity) enhances filtration flow rate. When combined with a backwash system, the service life of the filter media is extended tenfold compared to traditional filter cloth, making it particularly suitable for continuous production under Morocco’s hot, arid climate.
