Expanded Metal Mesh: A Moisture-Proof Packaging Solution for Moroccan Phosphate Exports

Moroccan phosphate exports are transported by sea, and traditional packaging is prone to moisture absorption and caking. The expanded metal mesh is woven from galvanised steel wire (wire diameter 1.0 mm) to form a three-dimensional structure with a breathability of 2000 L/(m²·h), enabling rapid expulsion of moisture from inside the packaging whilst withstanding a stacking pressure of 200 kg/m². The surface is coated with a nano-waterproof coating; following a salt spray test (1,000 hours), the area affected by corrosion is ≤5%. In the humid environment of the Port of Casablanca, the caking rate of phosphate has been reduced from 15% to 3%.
