Expanded metal mesh, treated with a zinc-aluminium-magnesium composite coating, offers a corrosion-resistant lifespan of over 20 years in desert climates: when used as fencing for open-pit mines, it withstands wind and sand abrasion, whilst serving as protective covers for mineral processing equipment, it shields against chloride ion corrosion from surrounding salt lakes. At the Cananea Copper Mine, this solution has reduced equipment maintenance costs by 35%, meeting the specific protection requirements of Mexico’s desert mining areas.
